WHAT WE CHECK

Six areas, one page.

Each check says what it found on your page, with its numbers, and the list starts with what matters most.

01IndexingCan Google find the page, and is it allowed to list it? Status, noindex, robots.txt, canonical, HTTPS, redirects and the sitemap.
02On-pageWhat the page says about itself: title, description, headings, image alt text, viewport, language, favicon and structured data.
03LinksAre the links normal links, do they say where they go, and does any of them lead to a missing page?
04SpeedGoogle’s own test on a phone: loading, responsiveness and layout shift, plus page weight and image sizes.
05SharingWill a shared link show a title, a description and a picture?
06AI searchCan AI crawlers reach the page, and is its text in the HTML for them to read?

How to read the results

Each check comes back as passed, to improve or to fix. “To fix” is something missing or broken, such as a page that tells Google not to list it. “To improve” is something present but worth a second look, such as a title too long to fit. A few checks are optional and never count against the page.

“Do these first” puts the problems in order of how much they matter, each with why it matters and where the fix is explained. Every check carries a label: Google guideline, good practice, or new. The lengths we mention for titles and descriptions are guides, not limits set by Google, and the score is our own formula.

The audit looks at one page as it is served right now. It does not crawl the rest of your site, measure rankings or count links from other sites. Fix what it lists, run it again to confirm, then move to the next page. The On-Page SEO series and the Technical SEO series explain the reasons behind each check.

Questions

Is the audit free?

Yes, with no sign-up. You get 3 full audits a day. After that the form runs the quick check, 12 essentials, until the next day.

Do you keep the address I check?

Not the page address. We keep the site’s domain, the score and totals, to see how the tool is used. The full address is stored only if you ask for a share link or an emailed report, and then for 30 days.

Why could it not audit my page?

The site may block automated requests, the page may have taken too long to answer, or the address may return a file instead of a web page. None of those is a judgement on the page, so nothing is scored.

Does a score of 100 mean my page will rank?

No. The score is our own formula, not a Google score. A high score means a search engine can read the page properly. Whether it ranks depends on what the page says and how well it answers the search.

Where do the rules come from?

Each check is labelled. “Google guideline” follows Google’s own documentation. “Good practice” is a habit most SEOs follow that Google does not require. “New” covers how AI assistants read a page.
